- The 100 – fitness trainer Jorge Cruise proposes to count only the sugar calories to lose up to 18 pounds in 2 weeks. The theory behind this diet is that much of the excess weight comes from the consumption of food that is high in sugar, so limiting the sugar intake is viewed to help shred pounds away.
- DASH – originally developed to combat high blood pressure, this diet received high praises for being nutritionally complete, safe, supporting heart health and being able to control diabetes.
- Low in cholesterol and saturated fat (only 7% of saturated fat is allowed)
- 20% of calories from protein
- More fiber and minerals (calcium, magnesium and potassium)
- 2000 calorie (8400 kilojoules) daily intake is the basic guidelines, but 1200 and 1600 plans are also available in the book
